Lots to Do

Don't think of me as gone, you see,
I didn't go away.
And God said He has lots of things
for me to do today.

He said I can paint the butterflies
whichever way I choose.
And then we'll fit the centipede
with orthopedic shoes.

The crickets and the katydids
are slightly out of tune.
But God said we can fix that
when they sing beneath the moon.

There's puppies here that need to play
with rowdy little boys.
And Saint Peter laughed when we used
Garbriel's halo for a toy.

Just this morning, I fell down
but there wasn't any pain.
And, it's a secret, but God said next week
it's finally going to rain.

You'll see lots of flowers
when the rain is finally through.
Look closely at the yellow ones.
I painted them for you.

Don't worry, I have lots to do,
and I'm not here alone.
I'm sleeping in the house with God
'til my family can come home.

Who left this world much too soon
