Tragic Flames

You hold me in your arms
Your touch so gentle and warm
Each word you say to me
Is held close to my heart
How did I not see this side of you?
Your caring nature which you hide
Is it because out of sympathy
That you have changed so rapidly?
Or is it because you truly care,
Seeing me in pain
The time we spend together
Was truly a gift sent from above
I treasure each moment we have
Our times of happiness and sorrow
You have tried so hard to please me
Yet I didn’t care
For I was a fool in the past
To have overlooked one as special as you
As I lay here in your arms
My body fragile and weak
Tears well up in my eyes
As you whisper your words of comfort
I do not want to leave this world
But what choice do I have?
Please do not forget me
Forget this friend you have?
I can feel myself getting weaker
My time on Earth has end
I can feel life slipping
Slipping into Death’s hands
I hope I have a place in your heart
Now and forever
As you will be in mine
For all eternity and beyond.
