Beauty for Ashes

Scripture- Proverbs 18:14 "The spirit of a man can endure his sickness, but a broken spirit who can bear?"

The physical scares and pain of abuse, will usually heal with time, but the inner brokenness and wounds that result, are not so easily mended. Sometimes, unless there is help, these pains may never be healed, and as a result, the person, and those around them will suffer.

In Luke 4:18, Jesus quotes a passage of scripture from Isaiah 61 which says,"The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bindup the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners."

Jesus is declaring that He has come to heal the brokenhearted, those who have inner wounds, those who have hurts that men can not see with their physical eyes. But you must be willing to give those hurts and pains to Jesus. Because He has already carried them for you. Allow His strength to become your strength.

In Isaiah 61:3, the scripture says that He came to give beauty for ashes. If you feel arson has been committed in your life and all you have left is ashes, Jesus wants to give you a garland of beauty. He wants to give you His fresh oil of gladness for mourning, and the garment expressive of praise instead of a heavy burden and failing spirit because God wants to be glorified in your life, and give you victory over the past. So receive the healing love of Jesus and let Him change your life today.
