Cover Directions

Recipe
  • (2) 7-3/4" x 6-3/4" pieces of heavier weight cardstock; any color works, but the lighter the better to stamp or decorate. The Naturals Paper Sampler works great, as does a heavier weight white cardstock.
  • (1) 2-1/4"x 6-3/4" cardstock as described above
  • 3/4" ribbon, jute, raffia or any other fun thing you can find to tie your book together
  • Stamp set and colors of your choice, B&T papers and/or cardstock for layering

Assembly

  • Take the two pieces of 7-3/4"x 6-3/4" pieces of cardstock and a 6x6 page protector. Center the page protector on your pieces of cardstock with the hole side of the protector at the end so the edge of the protector is lined up with the ends of your cardstock. Mark the holes with a pencil. This will determine where the holes will be punched. Using a 1/8" round punch, make the holes. Keep both pieces together to do this so the holes line up perfectly. These two pieces will be the front and back covers of your book.
  • Score the top cover of your book 1" in from the end with the holes to allow your book to open more easily.
  • Take the piece of 2-1/4"x 6-3/4" piece of cardstock and make a score line 1" from the end; turn over and score again 1" from other end. This will leave a 1/4" section in the center for your spine. Mark the holes with the page protector just like you did with the cover. This will be your book binding.
  • Stamp the cover and layer with paper as desired. Stamp and decorate the binding also.
  • Next, put the book together using ribbon or another medium of your choice. You will have better results if you carefully pull the ribbon through one hole at a time. Make sure that each end of the ribbon ends up on the cover so you can tie the bow on top. Your layers should go: back of binder, back cover, page protectors, top cover, top of binder.
  • The 1/4" width of your binder will allow for about five page protectors with pages inside. If you plan to use more pages than this, you will need to add on to the binder to make it thicker.
