Joseph Louis Vaughn
My great grandfather was Joseph Louis Vaughn. Joseph Louis lived in a marvelous time of exploration and invention. He was born in March 26, 1862 to George W. and Lurena Fowler Vaughn. Joseph Louis was born in Pocahontus Tennessee.
Joseph Vaughn lost his father at an early age. His mother was also lost to him sometime before March 1866. It was at this time, when Joseph was bonded out to the Gooch Family.

as a young boy.
Jospeh Louis Vaughn was bonded out to Mr. W.B. T. Gooch and raised him from the age of four years old. Mr Gooch was born Fev 24, 1842 and passed away March 5, 1883. He is buried at the Moss Creek Cemetery, Byrd Lock Community in McNairy County Tennessee.
Mr Gooch's first wife was named Brumbelow, which was also the name of John Marshall Vaughn's son in law. The exact connection between these families are not known at this time. CLICK HERE to see an enlarged version of the document.
Joseph Louis Vaughn moved to Texas before 1895. In his first years in Texas he taught school in the Midlothian Texas area. He also lived the hard life of a cowboy moving cattle north on the Goodnight/Loving cattle trails. His life settled however, when on September 26, 1895 in DeLeon, Comanche County Texas he married Mary Young Morris. Joseph and Mary began a family almost immediately, thier first child Mary Alice Vaughn being born on September 16, 1896.

Joseph and Mary lived in DeLeon, Comanche County area for the rest of thier lives, with the exception of a short time spent in Young County Texas in the early 1900s. Their children are listed below. All but one of these children have now gone on to be with the Lord. Many of us knew and love these people and miss them dearly.

Joseph Louis Vaughn
In his later years.
Growing up I heard a great deal about "grandpa Vaughn". My mother often talked fondly about him and she obviously had a wonderful relationship with him. I am placing the flowers below as a memorial for him, and for those of his children I was particularly blessed to know and love.
Come back for more info to be posted later.
