my two cents on the war
Yesterday Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld held a press conference. There was a reporter there that brought up an interesting point?.

Why are the abuses of Iraqi prisoners a terrible thing, but the abuses of Iraqi civilians were ok?

So basically, we are more evil than Saddam Hussein.

Now, I?m in no way justifying what these soldiers are doing?if they are abusing Iraqi prisoners. However, all I?m saying is that it?s a little odd that France stands up now upset about the ten or so people that might have been abused by us. But the thousands of people who died under Saddam?s regime weren?t worth it to them.

Not to sound all pro Iraqi war on you. I mean, I was not for the war. But, I am for actually letting our leaders of this country lead. I didn?t have all the intelligence information that they did. And I was for taking Saddam out of power. His crimes against humanity were horrific. If the U.S. is going to police the world (arg!) we?ve got the police the whole thing.

This is a really great website: http://www.defendamerica.mil/iraq/mar2004/tni-1yr0318042.html Especially for those of you who are on the fence about the war. I may not have been in full support, but I do think it?s done more good than harm. This is hauntingly similar to what we found once we entered into Germany post WWII.

In Studio w/ Blink182
So, my sister and I got the chance to get in studio with Blink 182. It was pretty cool. We had a great time. I don't really have much more to say about it...but you can check out pictures here.

OU's Thompson arrested for DUI
2004-05-04
By George Schroeder
The Oklahoman

NORMAN -- Oklahoma reserve quarterback Paul Thompson was charged Monday with a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to a Norman police report, Thompson was arrested early Sunday morning after being pulled over for running a red light. Cleveland County district attorney Tim Kuykendall said Thompson's blood alcohol content measured .08 when he was arrested.

Thompson, 20, has an initial court date of June 8. If convicted, he could receive a sentence of up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine. That's not likely, though. Kuykendall said first offenders typically receive sentences of probation, pay fines, attend a DUI education school and perform community service.

Through a school spokesman, OU coach Bob Stoops declined comment Monday. Media relations director Kenny Mossman said the situation would "be handled within the framework of the team, and it will be an internal matter."

Thompson, who will be a junior next fall, has spent the past two seasons as OU's second-team quarterback. He retained that status after spring practice.

According to the police report, at 1:20 a.m. Sunday, Norman officer Gregory Laffin observed a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Thompson run a red light at the intersection of Lindsey and McGee streets.

After pulling Thompson over in the nearby McDonald's parking lot, Laffin smelled alcohol on Thompson's breath and noted slightly slurred speech from Thompson, according to Norman police spokesman Lt. Tom Easley. According to Kuykendall, Thompson told police he had had three or four beers.

Thompson failed a field sobriety test, according to the report, then consented to a blood alcohol content test, which registered .08.

He was taken to the Cleveland County Detention Center. Sunday morning, Thompson was released after posting $1,000 bond. An unidentified passenger with Thompson was not arrested.

Because he is not 21, Thompson could have been charged with DUI with any measurable blood alcohol count. But .08 is in excess of the legal limit for any age.

one more thing...
...before I nap, I need to pimp a blog I've been reading.

Hugo Schwyzer - a progressive, consistent-life ethic Anabaptist Democrat (but with a sense of humor), a community college history and gender studies professor, an avid marathoner, aspiring ultra-runner, die-hard political junkie, and proud father of a small chinchilla.

Come on...this guy is hot, smart, vocal...and he has a pet chinchilla. Give him a read...it will get your wheels turning...or make you totally mad. Either way, it will make you a more active citizen.

the man I will marry
I really have to marry a man with a good job. Somebody needs to be able to support my Best Buy and my Victoria's Secret habit. Why do I have a feeling like he would much rather fund the later? Hmm....

Pat Tillman Memorial
Did anyone catch Pat Tillman's brother drop a few f-bombs at the memorial service? Mad props. But, yes...sadly...he is still f***in dead.

Pretty heart felt if you ask me. His brother also started breaking down. I hope that people miss me that much at my funeral.

a good joke from Hoff
President Bush and Colin Powell are sitting in a bar.

A guy walks in and asks the barman, "Isn't that President
Bush and Colin Powell sitting over there?"

The barman says, "Yep, that's them."

So the guy walks over and says, "Wow, this is a real honor.
What are you guys doing in here?"

Bush says, "We're planning WW III ".

And the guy says, "Really? What's going to happen?"

Bush says, "Well, we're going to kill 140 million Iraqis this
time and one bicycle repairman."

The guy exclaimed, "A bicycle repairman? Why kill a bicycle
repairman?

Bush turns to Powell, punches him on the shoulder and says, "See,
smart ass?!

I told you no one would worry about the 140 million Iraqis!"
