Welcome to Pack 240!
It is wonderful to see you all here. You and your child are going to have an exciting
year together. We have all sorts of fun activities planned this year and we believe not only
will the children learn from these fun experiences but the parents will also.
To begin with, there are a few stages within a bear cubs year. Initially, they
must earn their bobcat rank, which is done by learning some basic cub scout concepts.
Once this is obtained, a bear must accomplish 12 achievements. After this they will get a bear badge to
place on there uniform and they can start to collect arrow point (This is for each 10
electives earned, read for more details).
To help with activities during the den meetings, we will need financial help from
the parents of the den. We will collect $5.00 per month for den dues. These will be
collected on the first meeting of every month. These dues will go towards achievements,
activity materials, and any other items required for the den to function.
We will also occasionally have one of the bears’ parent host a den meeting. This
parent will be responsible for running the meeting. We do this to help get everyone involved and to place experts at a subject in the teachering seat. The parent will not be responsible for the scheduling of
the meeting; that will be provided in the calendar. They also will not be required to buy the
supplies for the meeting. They will only be responsible to teach the concepts for the week
(so please be well-versed and prepared). If scheduling conflict arise, just contact a leader
immediately.
Every 3rd Thursday of the month Pack 240 schedules a Pack Meeting. These are
held at Kukral Hall at Our Lady of Fatima, from 7pm -8pm. It is important to attend if
scheduling allows, for this is where awards are handed out and many fun activities are
held. If you miss these meetings, we will provide the information, if requested in advance. Please do not come to a den meeting and assume we will have this infomation on-hand. Always contact us in advance to a meeting so we can get material ready to give to you.
The information is provide but the experience cannot be replaced.
Each month, we will have:
2 Den Meetings
1 Go and See
1 Pack Meeting
We will try to keep the schedules very routine, and predictable. We will genernate calendars,
with a general outline of each meetings, monthly. These will be provided on the internet with any additional
last minute announcement. The link is:https://www.angelfire.com/tx6/bsatroop202/.
