Types and Personalities of Cockatoos

Cockatiel

It is often thought that the cockatiel is not in the cockatoo family. This is debatable, but we decided to include them. The cockatiel is a great campanion bird, especially for children or first time bird owners. They have a great deal of personality packed into a small body. Some are great talkers and some will speak only a few words. If hand fed babies, they are very gentle birds and love to be with their humans. Like the cockatoo, they are very "dusty" birds and require daily baths, as do all birds. They require the same type of diet as the bigger birds as well. They are generally quite birds and make very good campanions.
