What is the Ad Altare Dei Tour?

Region X Chairman Charles Raimond and Region X Chaplain Father Anh Tran, have appointed Scouter John Ryan 2011 AAD Tour Leader. John led the 2007 AAD Tour which was recognized with the NCCS Award of Excellence and there are a number of adults from that same tour who will be supporting this effort. John's Email

Scout Qualifications:
Eligible scouts who wish to participate will have a limited number of first-come first-served seats on our charter bus. Scout
Representatives must be at least First Class Scout, at least 13 years of age by
June 18, 2011, have been active in a troop for at least 6 months prior, be interested
in achieving the Ad Altare Dei Award, be approved by your Scoutmaster or Troop Committee,
and be deemed worthy of the 12th Scout Law – Reverent.
A complete Personal Health and Medical Record must be filed prior to departure.
Official Scout Participants:
There will be an initial ceiling of 51 Boy Participants which is entirely dependent upon
the number of Adult Staff Volunteers who are confirmed. We all want to have fun but we
also need the manpower, drivers, and award counselors to support it. The fee is $200
($50 Non-Refundable Deposit to confirm slot for the ceiling of 51 initial attendees). We are working on partial or FULL Scholarships and will provide information on this in the future. We cannot guarantee
full refunds to scouts who register but were unable to attend but we will work to
prevent any loss of fees by having “waitlisted” or alternate attendees.
Note: As a past coordinator of District Philmont Expeditions from 1987-1997 and the 2007 AAD Tour, not one
participant experienced loss of fees despite having to drop out even though all Philmont
fees are non-refundable.
Youth Staff Qualifications:
Tour Leader (TL): This scout must at his best at leading a contingent of
scouts from up to 30 units from 4 diocese: Austin, Dallas, Ft Worth and Houston. Experience as Senior Patrol Leader, OA Ordeal Master, Jamboree Senior Patrol
Leader or Patrol Leader, OA Lodge Officer, OA Chapter Chief, Philmont Crew Leader are all
examples of who would have the qualities to lead our inaugural Region X AAD Tour. This scout would
also have earned the Ad Altare Dei Award or Pope Pius XII Award in
order to best serve those scouts who are taking the same journey.
