Tanda Loves Lil Bit

Our neighbors eventually gave Paloma away to someone
who had a fenced yard. Not long after that, Tanda
and I went through the same nap-time scenario, me
trying to sleep while she kept going sticking her nose
in my face and going over to the window until
I finally got up to go see what she wanted.

There on the porch next door was another puppy, I
watched as the little brown fur ball nosed the door
and tumbled down the steps. Tanda looked up at me and
snorted "Ya see?". As I watched I realised the puppy
didn't have a collar and wasn't tied up. I became
afraid that it wander out in the street and get run
over soooo....

Much to Tanda's delight I returned a few minutes later
with the little dog, it was so covered with fleas I had
to give it a bath before I would let it loose in the
house. Tanda was ecstatic to have a baby in the
house she could play with. That evening I took the little
puppy back next door, She took one look at the puppy
and said "It's not my dog."; I said "Uh oh...".

A few days after Lil Bit's "adoption" I was out in the
yard when my neigbor called out "There's where
your puppy came from." As I watched a stray dog jogged
across her yard with a puppy in it's mouth which it
took across the street and deposited under a
vacant house. "Oh no," I shouted back across the
fence, "I can't handle any more dogs."

To make a long story short, we got a new puppy. She
never got officialy named we called her "that
little dog", "the little one" and even "Dammit" when she made
a mess on the floor, it eventually got shortened to Lil
Bit.

Lil Bit was always Tanda's dog, she always asked Tanda
before going outside or eating, she couldn't think without
Tanda. Throughout the rest of her life Tanda and Lil
Bit were inseperable. Tanda finally got someone she
could be a mother to and Lil Bit got the mommy she
needed.

The night Tanda died Lil Bit sat in the room with her
and cried the most heart-breaking howls.
Lil Bit has been terribly stressed since Tanda's
passing but she's coping, trying to be more independant
and turning to us more for affection.
