Our guest speaker at our September meeting was Randy Mecca who shared information on the Disc games to be held at L.L.Woods Park in Lewisville, TX. Below is a link to the web site, where you can enter online if you'd like. Everyone's welcome to stop by and see what folks are up to. Some of our amputee support group members talked like they might get out there and give this a try! Randy Mecca did say the park is very wheelchair friendly for those interested in learning the game of Disc Golf.

This year’s Disabled Disc Games is the first event of it’s kind. It is intended to introduce the Sport of Disc Golf to the disabled, and provide an annual event where they may test their skills, while having lots of fun.

The Mini's for disc golf

East Texas Fall Sports Fest for People With Disabilities
Sat. Sept. 18, 2004
Lake Gladewater, 1602 Lakeshore Dr., Gladewater, TX

Sponsored by People On Wheels Encouraging Responsibility (POWER), the sports fest features adaptive water skiing, kayaking, handcycling, disc golf and other recreation modified to accommodate people who have disabilities. All ages are welcome. The event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the city park at 1602 Lakeshore Drive.
"This is the only event of this kind for people with disabilities of all sorts, anywhere in this area," POWER president and co-founder Judie Moffett said.
