 My Dann Line
The Dann family in Tasmania first started with Isaac Butcher Dann. Isaac was born in Little port, Cambridgeshire, ENG. on the 17th of October 1825 to Sarah Dann and John Butcher. The child was illegitimate but the mother kept the childs father names as her sons middle name. We know this because of the Bastardy Report dated the 17th of October 1825 from the Isle of Ely, Parish of Littleport, Cambridgeshire, naming John Butcher of Littlport as the father of the child. Isaac was arrested and brought before the court in the Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire on the 18th of October 1843 for stealing money from a person, pick pocket, and vagrancy. He was found guilty and sentenced to 10 years trasportation to Van Diemen's Land. He sailed aboard the "Equestrian" in 1844. He obtained his Ticket of Leave on 11 April, 1854. |
