Steph's Bandages
Steph's Bandages

Waiting for it to rain
was only one of her anticipations
through a window of barred sight
She looks out, she swears she is sane
her arms read pages of scraps
Sometimes through that window
criss-crossed shadows fall on gashes
tears combed in her eyelashes
leaves of various fires float
She has felt them
She has heard the nubian winds call out to her
A counterpart to human screams
Sunlight will beat her eyes
Through the glass, from warmer skies
she wonders and waits to look in
And not out
