This mutilated warrior is the boss of the Earth World region of From Software's 1998 Shadow Tower Playstation roleplaying video game. Apollos was once a loyal servant of the King, but he was betrayed, and dark powers remade his flesh into the twisted horror that is the Dread Knight. This armored fiend attacks swiftly with either devastating slashes from his Great Sword (the Dread Knight's inhuman strength is such that he wields this heavy two-handed blade effortlessly with one mailed fist) or blows from his mutated left arm, which can stretch out, in an elastic fashion, to reach distant opponents. Also beware his unearthly scream, for anyone that hears it will be instantly frozen with fear--needless to say, being unable to move when he comes bearing down upon you spells certain doom (use an anti-paralysis item quickly.) The Dread Knight is always accompanied by one or two Earth Knights--if at all possible, an adventurer would be wise to dispatch these minions with great haste so as not to have to deal with both them and their lethal commander simultaneously (however, if you choose to focus on the Dread Knight first, the Earth Knights will disappear upon his defeat.) Should you succeed in ending the Dread Knight's suffering, the grateful warrior will give his thanks and bequeath his mighty blade to you as a reward for your efforts.
