Mumbler/Clawfinger
Toddling, diminutive creatures that call the dank sewers, that lead to Silent Hill's Lakeshore Amusement Park, home (sometimes a particularly adventurous Mumbler will find its way to the surface, but, as they prefer wet and dark environments, these occurances are rare). Slow but persistant, Mumblers must get close to their prey before latching on with their long claws to feed. These creatures can be encountered singly, in small groups, and/or in the company of Hanged Scratchers, another unpleasant (and considerably more dangerous) inhabitant of Silent Hill's subterranean waterways.
Mumblers are sometimes mistaken to be Teddy Bears due to an optical illusion of sorts in the Silent Hill game (if one considers the hole in the neck to be a nose and the highlights on the shoulders of the polygon Mumbler model to be ears, the creature's upper portion begins to very much resemble a bear's head - this convincing, but false, Teddy Bear appearance is further enhanced by the creatures claws and overall build and color). It's sort of like one of those pictures where you can see either a young woman or an old woman...
