Zombie

Undead creatures that can be randomly encountered at the Iifa Tree, Gunita's Basin, and Daines-Horse Basin in Final Fantasy IX. These rotting corpses are always eager to cure the living of life, which they do via their risky "Roulette" skill; this black art causes Death to randomly strike down one individual in the immediate vicinity (the Zombie who invoked it, or any of its' evil comrades, are fair game). As a Zombie becomes injured, it becomes more dangerous, because it may choose to employ its "Melt" ability, an "eye-for-an-eye" tactic that deals damage, equal to what the Zombie has suffered, to its target. They also favor raking their prey with their long claws. These creatures take heavy damage from Holy and Fire based attacks, but are relatively resistant to Shadow elemental forces, to which, being undead, they have an affinity.

Quina can learn "Roulette" by having a Zombie for a snack.
