Mist does not actually live at Freedom Acers or Rocky Rein Ranch but lives in a wild herd near by. Her stallion Flaming Glory, actually died in a fight for leader of the herd so Mist just keeps moving with the rest of her herd. The only family she has left is her son Shadow, who is grown and moved to another herd, still visiting from time to time. This mare is a very strong willed mare and ended up staying at Freedom Acers for a period of time after being rescued from the meat plant with another five mustangs and then let free once they were allowed. This mare was originally born on a ranch and that is why she has a brand on her hip and is registered but as a foal she got loose with a bunch of other horses and she learned to take care of herself very fast.
Sometimes Jess will go riding out on the hills and will catch a glimpse of Mist and she did notice Shadow as he was moving up the mountain, this mare seems to live on forever and is still there every spring, sometimes having a foal and sometimes not.
