Kikyo is the priestess who was entrusted with the Shikon jewel 50 years
ago.
She was a kind priestess, and helped even those who did not deserve it.
One
such person was Onigumo, an injured bandit. Onigumo fell in love with
Kikyo,
but Kikyo was in love with Inuyasha. Onigumo let many demons consume
him so
that he may in turn get their powers, thus becoming a half-demon
himself.
Disguised as Inuyasha, he gave Kikyo a fatal wound. Then, disguised as
Kikyo, shot at Inuyasha, making Inuyasha think she betrayed him. In the
end,
Kikyo died, and Inuyasha was sealed to a tree.
50 years later after Kagome came to the Feudal Era and unsealed
Inuyasha,
Kikyo was brought back to life by a witch. The witch took Kikyo's
remains,
and then half of Kagome's soul and brought Kikyo back to life. Kikyo
wanders
around the land helping villages, but moves on quickly. She does not
really
want to be alive, because she really isn't. She is still bitter
towards
Inuyasha for what happened 50 years ago, even after learning that it
was
Onigumo, or Naraku, who tricked them and set them against each other.
