EMF Programs

There are three inter-related projects, which form the basis of the Foundation's program: Computers for the World (CFW), Transferring New Technology (TNT) and Operation Pride (OP).

1. Computers for the World is a project designed to place used computer equipment into villages through schools and/or youth clubs. The project will respond to official requests from villages for equipment and training. Request will be made via an application process wherein community commitment and contributions are clearly identified. Computer equipment is supported by donations of used hardware from companies and individuals in the United States. Operating costs to implement this program are also raised through donations. The following two programs support the Computers for the World initiative. To learn more, go here.

2. Transferring New Technology is a project designed to develop a corps of host country computer trainers skilled in information transfer at the grassroots level. The trainers will receive instruction in computer technology and teaching techniques. Following their training they will be assigned to a village identified through the Computers for the World project. The project will provide a monthly stipend and the village will provide their housing. TNT thus serves as a training ground for developing professionals by giving them the tools and experience necessary to advance in their careers. This project will operate with assistance from the host government and partner facilities in each country. Financial donations are required to support our overhead costs and the monthly stipend for each teacher. To learn more, go here.

3. Operation Pride Provides an alternative for street kids by giving them a place and opportunity to learn about computers, and computer repair, attend workshops on AIDS, health, hygiene, and general life skills. OP seeks to stimulate a sense of pride in their ability to earn their own living. To prepare the computer equipment for use at sites, it is necessary to maintain a warehouse facility where staff and volunteers can properly format each computer for use. We plan to train and employ motivated/qualified individuals (selected from OP participants) as apprentices in each host country to aid us in this effort. To learn more, go here.
