"Greetings everyone, it is great to be back!"
Voiced by: James Sie
Appears in: Seasons 1 and 2 (nearly every episode, albeit in Season 2 he appears sharing a body with Valmont), Season 3 (Re-Enter the Dragon), Season 5 (The Powers That Be, Parts 1 and 2)

Shendu is a dragon, once the ruler of China, and the demon sorcerer of fire. He is the main villain in Seasons 1 and 2, working (willfully or not) with Valmont and the Dark Hand.

Shendu was a demon sorcerer who ruled over China with his dragon minions until he was banished by Lo Pei, the item used being a sword. He was converted into a statue, and his powers were drained into twelve talismans, which scattered to the four corners of the earth. Hundreds of years later, Valmont comes into possession of the statue somehow, and Shendu promises him riches if he can collect all twelve talismans to restore the dragon to his original form. Eventually, Shendu gets all the talismans, absorbs them, and goes back into his dragon form. However, he does not give Valmont the treasure he promised. Jackie Chan fights Shendu and pulls the talismans out of him, eventually getting the Rat and reverting Shendu back to a statue form. Jade then destroys the statue, sending Shendu's spirit to the demon netherworld.

This is where Season 2 begins. It turns out, Shendu is in big trouble with his siblings, who wanted out of the demon netherworld. Yet again, Shendu was only thinking of himself. So the demons are able to send Shendu back to the real world, where he can possess a person's body to release his demon siblings. He plans on possessing Jackie Chan, but by a strange turn of events, ends up possessing Valmont instead. He now shares Valmont's body, much to both's displeasure. Shendu/Valmont goes around, opening the demon portals, and each time the Chans close them. Around when the last demon, Bai Tza, is to be released, Valmont knocks Shendu out with good magic (by holding the Pan Ku box, used to locate the demon portals and because it is good magic Shendu is hurt by touching it), and goes to the Chans to help exorcise the demon. It is unsuccessful, however, and Shendu awakens. Eventually, all the demon portals are closed and Shendu is sent back to the demon netherworld.

Shendu returns for one more brief stint in which he attempts to rewrite the Book of Ages. He does so, but Jade rips out the page concerning herself and saves herself from Shendu's time warp. He makes it so that all the demons now control the world and humans, because humans have no technology. Jade goes around enlisting the help of the J-Team, after she convinces them to do so. Eventually they get to the Book of Ages and rewrite it again. Shendu is banished again to the demon netherworld.

Shendu appears for a brief role in Season 3. He makes yet another deal, with Daolon Wong this time. If Daolon can revive him, Shendu agrees to give the dark chi wizard the power of the dragon talisman, which currently has no animal to reside in (dragons went "extinct" long ago). Shendu is brought back, but he keeps the talisman power to himself, double-crossing Daolon and stealing his powers too. He then tracks down the Chans and eventually gets all the talisman powers. He is eventually converted back into statue form and he and the talismans are locked up in Section 13.

In Season 5, Shendu is revealed as having a son: Drago. Drago attempts to revive his father but is unsuccessful. Eventually, Uncle goes to Shendu (still in statue form) seeking for a way to strip Drago of his eight demon powers. Shendu claims it is impossible, but asks Uncle to free him so he can battle against his traitorous son. Uncle finally relents and the two do battle, with Shendu finally being reunited with all twelve talismans again for the fight. In the end, both he and Drago are cast into the netherworld, sealing away both the talismans and the demon chi for good.
