OLD SCHOOL!!

Me, Patrick, Samantha, Twigger, Mom, and Steve

This page is dedicated to our favorite band, Gaelic Storm--a talented and always-entertaining group of musicians who have been bringing smiles to our faces and music to our ears for quite some time now...

Gaelic Storm's CDs are available at your local record store or you can click on a CD cover above to pick one up at their official website...

Since I first put this page together, a few have asked how we've come to know the band, so I thought I'd share that story...

We used to drive past O'Brien's every Saturday on our way to our L.A. Marathon training sessions.  One day Mom saw a banner outside the pub advertising the band's shows every Sunday night..."as seen in Titanic."  She decided that the show would be past her bedtime, so Tim and I (along with our friend Susan) decided to check it out on our own.  After that we were hooked!  We spent almost every Sunday night down at the pub.  Still couldn't get Mom and Dad down to see a show though.

That all changed in June 1998, when I convinced Mom to come with me to the CD release party for the band's first album.  It was held at O'Brien's on a Tuesday afternoon.  (On a side note, up until this point, we had still never talked to any of the band members...  We were still kind of in awe saying things like "Oh my gosh...Patrick Murphy is standing right next to us!!")  So Mom decides that she is going to tell them how much she enjoyed the show.  Of course, I replied with "You can't talk to them--THEY'RE IN THE BAND!!"  That didn't stop her...

She dragged Dad to the next show at the House of Blues and soon enough, the four of us became a fixture at every local performance.  The band began to recognize us by face, then by our silly fan antics (Tim's homemade Shep shirt that Mom made...Lego Gaelic Storm...then the Lego Gaelic Storm shirt...), then they finally knew us by name and the rest is history...

We only get to see them once or twice a year now, and we definitely miss them while they are out on the road, but we couldn't be happier for their success.   Some of the faces in the band may have changed over the years, but the spirit of Gaelic Storm remains the same, and that's what we love!

Thanks for all the good times!  We'll always be looking forward to the next show...
