Solidarity Sunday 2004

Solidarity Sunday is a presentation of the life and passion of Jesus Christ in light of the suffering of people in our world today.  Each year the play is researched, written, directed and performed by youth and young adults.  And each year is more exceptional than the next.  Below you will find some photos from this year's production, written and directed by Elisa Bresba and Cory Labrecque.  And here you will find a reflection written by Cory.

Guylaine tells the story of Jacqueline Moudeina, a lawyer for the victims of the former dictator of Chad.

Jacqueline Moudeina has survived assassination attempts and has won the Martin Ennals Award for Human Rights Defenders.

As Lazarus, Lisa is bound and buried by Micheline and Jeff.

She told the story of Annalena Tonelli, who spent thirty years serving the poor in Somalia...

...Dr. Tonelli was murdered on October 5th, 2003.

Jesus (Elisa) commands Lazarus (Lisa) to get up...

...and then she is unbound by Jessica.

Mary Magdelene (Dorothy) mourns Jesus...

...and rejoices in his resurrection.

Mary Magdelene follows the example of Jesus, binding the wounds and washing the feet of her neighbour (Marlene)  -- one of the countless nameless victims of injustice in our world today...

...By doing so, the light of the resurrection fills the dark places in our world.
