THINKfast 2004

On the weekend of March 20-21, eleven people chose to forgo food in order that others might eat.  They spent much of the weekend focusing on the theme of WATER -- a gift from God which we too often neglect and abuse.

To read about the weekend, visit here.  To check out the pictures...    just keep scrolling!

Elisa and Darryl partner up as a household living in "Flowdia," not-too-far from a well, in the Amanzi game, developed by Lori and Mirjam at D&P.  The goal:  to have enough money to buy water each day.

Elisa cringes as she has to pay "the man" yet again for access to water.

Jeff strains to lift 115 lbs. -- the equivalent of 13.8 gallons of water.  That's just enough to flush the toilet a couple of times.  Think of how much water you use in a day.  Now remember that in many places in the developing world, women and even very little girls must walk for hours to obtain water for their families.

Daniel plants a seeds of hope and life as part of our evening prayer service.

These seeds are symbols of our contribution to the world, our pledge to follow in the footsteps of our Maker and ourselves be creative.

Not eating leaves you with very little energy.  Our beds were appreciated... even if they were on the floor of the church basement!

The end of the fast was celebrated in great joy after mass with a hearty potluck, contributed by our family and friends.

Thank you!
