New Guinness World Record Set, New Women's Record Set Two-time defending champion Michael Wardian, 33 of Arlington VA, was running two races at the Frederick Marathon - one to attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for running a marathon pushing a stroller and two participating in the marathon itself. Wearing bib number 1 (and with his son in a baby jogger wearing bib number 2), Wardian successfully knocked seven minutes off the Guinness Record - finishing the marathon just behind his son (of course in the stroller) in 2:42:22. With the effort of pushing the stroller, however, Wardian was not able to successfully defend his title and finished third overall. Christopher Zieman, 35 of Chapel Hill NC, who was third at the 2006 Big Sur International Marathon, was the overall winner of 2007 Frederick Marathon, winning in 2:27:15. Scott Paul Herrick, 25 of Mount Airy MD and 2005 sixth place finisher, was runner-up in 2:35:43. In the women's division (shown above) Jenn Shelton, 23 of Virginia Beach VA, broke Susan Graham-Gray's 2005 course record time of 2:56:57 to win in 2:53:44. Meg Lambke, 42 of Leesburg VA, finished second in 3:11:28. Nichole Posten, 30 of Frederick MD, was third in 3:29:26. |
