A Very Roco Birthday
On February 18, 1985, the world was blessed (or cursed) with the arrival of Josh, also known fondly as Roco. On February 20, 2004, we all came together to celebrate the 19th anniversary of his birth and eat some diggity delicious Thai food. So here is a picture record of the very Roco birthday.
Here is the invitation that was sent out for his birthday.
Here's the birthday group (minus me, I'm taking pictures). From left to right: Elizabeth, Josh "Roco" Birthday Boy, and Mary Beth
Here's the group again, a bit better shot, except Josh looks hostile (or smug?), as usual.
Josh's favorite ladies, all dressed up for his birthday.
One last group shot.
Here's the birthday boy looking like one suave dude; note the candy necklace.
Now it's time to open presents. Doesn't he look like he just received a brand new rifle for Christmas? What a demonic smile.
No, it's not a rifle or even a machine gun, it's a poster from Elizabeth.
And what is his first gift from Mary Beth? His very first Barbie. We always knew he wanted one and now he's got one.
Surprise, surprise. It took him less than two minutes to remove Barbie's clothes and begin posing her like a stripper. Somehow my childhood memories of playing with Barbie will never be the same.
Something about his expression in this picture is just a little too fascinated, a little too maniacally insane. That's enough Barbie play time for one birthday.
Good thing he can't make something sexually deviant or disturbing out of a slinky...slinkies: good clean fun.
What a perfect gift for everyone's favorite hand-washing, OCD friend.
Also from Mary Beth, Josh got a multi-pack of Playdoh. Elizabeth, being the artistic one, fashioned this festive birthday dog. Notice Barbie's arm waving for help in the background.
Here's an overview of the presents: it's like any alcoholic five year old's dream birthday and therefore nothing could have been better for our dear Roco. (Note the flask on the Where's Waldo book).
