Children of Rivers R. Jones and Frances Westbury Jones
Rivers R. Jones (1814-bet. 1860-1870) married Frances Westbury Jones. Frances was the daughter of Jonathan Westberry and Elizabeth McLeod (Westberry) . In the 1850 census (p. 394) Rivers and Frances were living next door to James F. Jones and Susannah Jones in the Spring Hill township. James and Susannah were parents of Rivers.
Rivers and Frances had the following five children, all of whom were born in Sumter County, S.C. in the 1840s:
1) George W. Jones (Dec. 1841-1 November 1912). He married Margaret Elizabeth Hair (Jones) (b. Oct. 1848/1852?), who was the daughter of Robert Hair and Elizabeth Eveleigh. George and Margaret were living at Bradford Springs at the time of the 1870 census. They were at Spring Hill Township in 1880 and 1900. In 1910 George was living with his son Edward.
George is buried at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Spring Hill, S.C.
George and Margaret Jones had five children in the 1870s and 1880s. They were:
Edward R. Jones (1870-1914) married Mary L.
Josephine O. Jones (b. 1873) married Henry Frierson Trimnal and is buried at Antioch Baptist Cemetery in Kershaw County, S.C.
Laura Elizabeth Jones (1880-1937) married Eddie T. Holland.
Vernon Walter Jones (1884-1970) married Mattie Lee Holland and is buried in Kershaw County, S.C.
Valerie (Vialle) Jones (b. 1888).
2) Margaret Jones (b. 1844). In the 1880 census she was living with her brother older brother George in the Spring Hill Township.
3) Henry Jones (b. 1846).
4) Martha Jones (b. 1848). In the 1880 census she was living with her brother older brother George in the Spring Hill Township.
5) Sarah Jones (b. 1849). In the 1880 census she was living with her brother older brother George in the Spring Hill Township.
