"Hajime Kindaichi is your classic underachiever -- always falling asleep in class, never doing his homework -- it's no wonder everyone thinks he's a loser. It seems like his only friend is Miyuki, the girl-next-door. Ignoring her classmates' complaints, she invites Kindaichi to the Drama Club's weekend rehearsal for "Phantom of the Opera" -- after all, someone's got to do the stage hand grunt work. The production gets off to a shaky start, but when cast members start dying in ways mimicking events in the play, things get downright grisly. While everyone worries about being snuffed out, this is young Kindaichi's moment to shine. With his amazing deductive reasoning and the ability to keep his cool in the face of death, he's a regular Sherlock Holmes. Now the class slacker must put on a class-act investigation before the "Phantom" strikes again!"
Explanation:
The story is kind of like that movie April Fool's Day -- Kids on a deserted island in a storm without escape, mysteriously dying off one by one -- only the kids are actually dying in this story. And by a Phantom copy-cat.
Again, remember, even though it's translated into english, the sequence of images still go RIGHT TO LEFT, not left to right.
This graphic novel is 230 pages long, and there's absolutely no way I'd scan every single image in it, as much of it isn't even Phantom-focused, but included below is just about every image that has to do with the Phantom.
The hotel/theatre on the deserted island resort.
The boy playing the Phantom nearly gets hit by an arrow.
The copy-cat's first victim (Meg in their play).
The copy-cat's second victim (Carlotta in their play).
Retelling of the original Leroux story.
The copy-cat about the break Miyuki's window.
More re-telling of their play's version of the original story.
Kindaichi's re-cap of the copy-cat's murders.
Most of the time the copy-cat Phantom was shown was only in re-cap.
The copy-cat's third victim (The director).
The copy-cat's final attempted attack (Miyuki and the Christine in the play).
