Free Write About Glass Doors and Electronics

Doors always seemed to be used for analogies. That's the third time I've heard or read or written something about them in the past two days. They are rather frustrating to try opening when they're locked. I've always found it humorous when people try to push open a lock door, realize it's locked, but still go back to the door two or three more times, hoping it's only a figment of their imagination. It's also rather amusing when people run towards a door and slam their full bodies into it expecting it to open, and it doesn't. They slide off the glass like a fly that's been squashed with a shoe. Often the imprint of their face remains on the glass. Sliding doors have a tendency of doing that to me. It's only when I'm running at full speed in a great hurry, slipping through people with the grace and fluidity of motion likened to that of an alleycat when suddenly – Splat! There I am squashed against the cold panes with the whine of the hinges in my ears as the doors slowly creak open. I know logically it's simply because the motion detector didn't notice me due to my speedy approach, but sometimes I wonder if those doors don't really have a mind of their own. I certainly wouldn't be surprised. I've noticed that the more you curse at them and yell at them to open, the slower they register your presence. I often feel like I'm talking to an upset three-year-old who won't let his fistful of candy go because you're talking to him in a tone of voice he doesn't like. Electronics are sometimes unfortunate in that respect.
