1Ti 2:11-15 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. 15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
We see from this that God said women are to learn in silence.
This does not mean a little talking or asking questions. They are to be quite.
She is not allowed to speak if the man gives her permission. The conjuction
"nor" is like the conjuction "and" both sides have to be met or true for the
statement to be true. It is not like an "or" statement where only one side of
the statement is all that is needed for the statement to be true. Therefore, the
leadership of the church cannot give her permission to do something that God
restricted. If they do then they also are guilty of sin.
Why did God give
such a restriction. I cannot say except what he has said. It goes back to Adam
and Eve, so let us go back to Genesis.
Ge 3:16 ¶ Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. 17 ¶ And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
20 ¶ And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
21 ¶ Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
22 ¶ And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
It would be wonderful, wonderful for women to be able to bear childern without sorrw (pain). This was the case before Adam and Eve sinned. Things are much different now. Wonderful, wonderful, it would be wonderful, if we did not have to till the ground. But, we now earn our food by the sweat of our face and we have thorns and thistles. It was a far different world before sin. Because of sin many things have changed and one of those is that women are to be silent in the church. Another is the man is the head of the woman. This is God's doings and who do we think we are to question God. God knows best.
