The Tehachapi Indians built upon a strong tradition in 2004 with first-year Head Coach Chris Olofson taking the helm. Olofson came to Tehachapi from Bishop Union High School, where he helped lead the Broncos football program to a respectable showing in the High Desert League in recent years, helping Bronco head coach Bill Egan to groom Bishop’s youth into producing one of their best varsity season’s in school history in 2003, an 11-2 overall record and undefeated league title. Along with Olofson’s strong background, the first-year head coach will have valued help in 17-year Tehachapi coach Bruce Schkade, who in recent years has guided the freshman program to two SSL championships in 2001 and 2002 along with a long list of accomplishments at all levels of the Warrior program. The Tehachapi Indians will have many players on their roster in 2004 that participated in the Golden Empire Youth Football League (GEYFL) as Tomahawks, and will look to build upon the success they enjoyed there after reaching the championship in the senior 12-14 age division against the Far West Patriots. The GEYFL competition features some of the upcoming youth that will be playing football at Centennial, Bakersfield High, North, Garces, and West high schools, so Tehachapi’s championship showing in GEYF and in the 2004 season bodes well of a strong run for the '04 freshman class in their new haunts of high school football in the new-look SSL. The Indians Coaching staff consists of Head Coach Chris Olofson, and assistants Bruce Schkade, Cliff Wiggins, and Jeff McLaughlin For summer pictures and scrimmage action of the Indians, please click here. |
