STEEP GRADE AHEAD  Warriors take care of Roosevelt, but the grade will be tougher to manage from here...

NEXT UP: Gene Beck Stadium will be the site for Tehachapi's next away game against Delano.  The Warriors hold a 4-2 all-time record against the Tigers.  Last season, Tehachapi lost to Delano 20-6.  It would mark their last loss on the year in that CIF Championship season.

    Welcome to Mountain Football....Arena Style!

Roosevelt's offense coming into this game did reach some notable offensive outputs...but scoring 33 points against a Warrior defense ON the mountain was probably a feat not many expected.

Especially when you consider that Roosevelt came into the game winless.  33 points...not bad for an 0-10 team ey Warrior fans?

Mind you, much of those 33 came in garbage time, with most of Tehachapi's freshmen/sophomores and reserve juniors on the field, but regardless of what hand you deal your opponent that can't be too much of an excuse.

But the offense looked solid, Fernando Gracian had a nice end-around, Robert Wright emerged as another threat that can help out in the playoff run...and the head-turner of the night probably....Gabe Bressler!

The sophomore scored two TD's, and really looked unfazed with the varsity competition after helping the Braves tally a 10-0 record on the year.

The future looks bright, VERY BRIGHT...Warrior fans.

But we can't focus on the future yet, there is still a present to contend with and focus on.

It was probably the last home game on the year for Tehachapi...and it was a great ride on the home front.

As far as the road war is concerned, Delano wont be too eager to let the Warriors end the season with a positive note in their backyard.

Jungle fever is about to hit Tehachapi this week with a date against the Tigers.

Pitted as one of the Division III favorites to start this season, Delano should bring some high electricity playoff action this Friday.

Don't miss it!

MOUNTAIN PLOW: Maurice Sales (#23) got a chance to strut his stuff against Roosevelt.  In this picture, Sales took a kickoff past midfield to put the Warriors in great position for a second half score.

WARRIOR REPORT:  #5 Tehachapi Warriors (7-4; 4-1 SSL) at #4 Delano Tigers (7-3; 4-2 EYL)

Last season, Tehachapi went on an eight-game win streak through the south sequoia league and the sequoia large division CIF playoffs to post a 10-3 championship season.

Their last taste of defeat in 2003 was to the East Yosemite League Champions, the Delano Tigers, on homecoming night in a 20-6 loss.

In the new division III playoff format for 2004, Tehachapi has been the odd benefactor of a fairly inviting playoff system where more teams are invited to the post-season (#12 seed Roosevelt Roughriders).  But make no mistake, Delano brings much more firepower to the table than anything Tehachapi's first round playoff opponent could even hope to dish out.

The Tigers are led by a very balanced attack, with probably more ways to come at you then any other school in Division III.  Mind you, Delano doesn't have a breakout player like Lemoore's Jamar Curry or Yosemite's Shawn Long, but when you have a team that is stacked with solid contributors the result can still impact the outcome of the overall contest.

The heartbeat of the Delano offense is returning quarterback Randy Camat (#4), who has completed 554 yards of passing this year for six touchdowns.  If the lanes are not open though, look for Camat to book past the line of scrimmage with his legs, having rushed for 424 yards on the season this year.

Assisting Camat in the rushing game is Ahearn Lucas (#2), who is the Tiger's leading rusher this year with 723 yards on the ground and seven touchdowns.  Lucas is also privy to a few out patterns as well, catching 20 passes this year for six touchdowns and 411 yards overall.

Lucas will be joined on offense by Scott Perigo (#6), who has three touchdowns logged this year, and Noe Aguirre (#84), who is a frontrunner for the East Yosemite League's first-team EYL Tight-End.

CENTER OF ATTENTION: Sean Finley (#32) will have to be an active part of the Warrior arsenal this week against a tough Delano team.

On the offensive line, Fred Valor (#75), Orlando Medina (#55), and Henry Marquez (#65) are all returning seniors that have helped Delano rack up 1,792 yards rushing and 1,202 yards passing on the year.

Defensively, the Warriors will have to look out for returning All-Area Defensive Lineman Noe Enriquez (#69), who is a force in the middle and a legitimate Division I collegiate prospect.  At linebacker, Ritchie Meneses (#32) and Oscar Ramos (#50) lead a defensive corps that have recorded over 400 tackles on the year.

The strength of Delano will be their defensive backfield, with Lucas and Perigo two-way starters, while also joined by Daniel Fuentes (#20), Isidro Alvarado (#5), and Michael Stewart (#9).  Alvarado is Delano's leading tackler on the year with 68 take-downs.

Overall, the Warriors will be in for a tough match-up.  The Tigers shut down Tehachapi's offense in 2003, holding the Warriors to only an opening game drive score on Mountain Football's homecoming night.

Many of the same faces from Delano then are back again this season, making Tehachapi's second round playoff opponent a difficult task, but still a small chance at redemption from a season before.

Friday night should be an electrifying atmosphere for playoff football with two strong programs looking to make the CIF Division III semifinals.

The website updating has been closed for the freshman and junior varsity teams this season.  If you get a chance, go check out the web pages and scroll through the pictures and stories from each game.  The underclassmen represented THS and the community well, make sure you let them know your appreciation the next time you see them!

A GLIMPSE INTO THE FUTURE- Here are your promoted Junior Varsity Standouts Warrior Fans.  #11 Levi Lantz, #70 Nick Engraf, #40 Jake Harris, #71 Greg Embry, #44 Alek Taliulu, #15 Brad Taylor, #34 Gabe Bressler, #21 Stefan Bekker

The Tehachapi Youth Football Sophomores had a strong showing in the Golden Empire Youth Football League last week in the Championship game, but feel short by one touchdown in their defeat to the Wasco Bengals.  Good job to all four classes on a stellar season!  See you in kelly green and black real soon!

Strong Run- The sophomore class fought hard, but feel short 28-20 in the GEYF title game.  The freshman and junior varsity teams had a strong year as well, falling short of championship by one game.  It was the first year that Tehachapi had three teams out of four reach a conference championship.  (photo by Mitch Smith)

Warrior Runner Brandon Rooney is at it again, taking home more accolades...this time at the Central Section Grand Masters at Woodward Park-Fresno with a time of 15:45.  It bested his time by six seconds at the same 3.1 mile course in the Central Section Cross-Country Championships November 10th.  Rooney took the CIF championship victory home with a winning time of 15:51 in that meet.

As a team, the men's team finished 12th overall in the Grand Masters.

State-Bound:  Brandon Rooney will look to improve upon his 10th state finish from his junior season after winning his second-consecutive CIF championship and second-consecutive Grand Masters.

Jared Stevens was at the game against Roosevelt!  It was great that the inspiration for the season was able to see his teammates in action.  You're in our prayers #9, get well soon!

The playoffs are here, get PUMPED! GO WARRIORS
