BRAVES DEFEAT 5-1 BOBCATS, 25-7
TEHACHAPI NEWS - The Braves rushed for 311 yards to defeat the Taft junior varsity 25-7 Friday on Coy Burnett Field. The Tehachapi High School junior varsity scored once in the first, again in the second and twice in the third and allowed Taft just one touchdown, which came in the second quarter. The Braves got on the scoreboard at 6:23 of the first quarter on a 42-yard run by Derek Lange, who tallied 76 yards rushing on eight carries in the game. Later in the first, the THS defense stopped the Wildcats at the five before starting a long drive that ended on a 12-yard touchdown run by Lange in the first play of the second quarter for a 13-0 lead. Taft scored its only TD on the game in the second quarter on a 1-yard run to head to the break down by a score of 13-7. The Braves iced the game in the third with TDs by Paul Castro, a 2-yard run, and Joey Montez, on a 1-yard run. Castro finished the game as the Braves' leading rusher with 180 yards on 14 carries. THS quarterback Ehren Ochsenrider completed two of three passes for 19 yards. The Braves improved their SSL record to 2-0 and will travel to Arvin this Friday. Kick off is set for 5 p.m.
