Tehachapi will now have a huge test this week against Shafter, which should decide the SSL champion. THE TEACHAPI NEWS - The Braves go-to-man Paul Castro scored twice to defeat the Bruins, 20-0, Friday in Arvin. After a scoreless first quarter the Braves found the end zone just 43 seconds in to the second quarter on a six-yard run by Paul Castro. Ehren Ochsenrider kicked the PAT for a 7-0 lead. The Braves added another six points in the third quarter on Castro’s second TD, a 70-yard run. The Braves defense showed their metal late in third on a goal line stand. The Braves stopped the Bruins and turned the stalled Arvin drive into a THS march for a 20-0 finish. After strong runs by Derek Lange, including a 21-yard run to set up a 11-yard pass from Ochsenrider to JJ Balker. Ochsenrider kicked the PAT for the 20-0 lead. The Braves rushed for 216 yards on the ground and completed two of four passes for 33 yards. Castro finished the game with 115 yards on 14 carries. Derek Lange averaged five yards per carry. He finished with 57 yards on 11 carries. Joey Montez tallied 27 yards in the game. The Braves, who improved their record to 3-0 in SSL action will open for the Warriors in Shafter this Friday at 5 P.M.
