BRAVES FIRST HALF DOWNS COLONELS, 35-6
TEHACHAPI NEWS - Adam Mullen took the games opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown to set the tone on the afternoon, taking an early 6-0 lead that morphed into 35 points for Tehachapi (6-2; 2-1 SSL) before halftime in a cruising victory over visiting Shafter.
Mullen later added touchdown runs of 5, 12, and 76 yards, and Dougan Patience caught an eight-yard touchdown pass from Kurtis Knudson late in the second quarter to account for the other Braves scores. Patience also connected on three point-after-attempts, while Knudson found Chris Fimbres open for a successful two-point conversion on Tehachapi's second touchdown of the afternoon.
On defense, Jason Hail anchored the front line with 12 tackles and two fumble recoveries, Joey Hack had seven tackles, while Eric Harroun and Josh Cannedy each had six tackles apiece. Kurtis Knudson, Cody Roebuck, Cody Rogers, Dan Rakowski, Dakota Weeks, Adam Mullen, and Dominic Chavarria all had multiple tackles in the game.
Mullen was the leading rusher for the game with 11 carries for 164 yards, while Damien Rodriguez had three carries for 22 yards, Angelo Loli had eight carries for 21 yards, and Armando Salcido had 16 yards on five attempts.
RUNNING HARD - The Tehachapi defense racked up 35 first half points to cruise to their second league win on the year.
