TEHACHAPI ENDS SEASON ON HIGH NOTE, 58-0
TEHACHAPI NEWS - The Indians provided a christening to the South Sequoia League that Bakersfield Christian won't soon forget, dominating the game by scoring on every drive and pitching a shutout in a 58-0 drubbing over the Eagles.
Tehachapi (5-4-1; 3-1-1 SSL) got the scoring barrage going early when Ryan Dalmas hooked up with Jason Kerns on a 50-yard touchdown reception. Dalmas found Robert Sigmund open for the successful two-point conversion and an 8-0 lead.
Dalmas would connect on TD's on the Indian's next two drives, the first on a 16-yard pass-and-catch to Jesse Olofson and a 70-yard passing strike to Matt Santos. By finishing with 136 yards passing, Dalmas broke the 1,000 passing mark on the year with 1,026 total yards, throwing 12 touchdown passes overall on the season.
Olofson was the leading rusher for Tehachapi on the night, thanks in part to a 71-yard rumble late in the first quarter to help Tehachapi go up, 29-0. The Indians broke the highest scoring output in one quarter on the season when Austin Herman found the endzone on a four-yard run, helping put Tehachapi up, 36-0.
Other touchdowns came from Cal Weeks on a 20-yard run, Zach Austin on a two-yard jaunt, and Zach Maravigli on a 21 yard score. Tehachapi's Daniel Baquerizo connected on three extra point attempts, a two-point conversion run, and an 18-yard field goal in the second quarter to account for the other Indian scores.
On defense, Clint Heinzler, Erik Erickson, and Austin Herman led Tehachapi with three tackles, while Jorge Macias, Andrew Howell, Chris Rush, Robert Sigmund, and Tyler Hagen all recorded multiple take-downs.
Tehachapi finished the season with a winning record at 5-4-1 after starting out 1-3 to begin the year.
