INDIANS LATE-GAME SURGE FALLS SHORT
TEHACHAPI NEWS - Tehachapi may have been down in the game, but they didn’t throw in the towel in a 22-20 loss to Taft last Thursday afternoon.
With the scoreboard showing 22-7 with 4:01 left in the third quarter, Indian Quarterback Ryan Dalmas nearly orchestrated an improbable comeback for Tehachapi (2-4; 0-1 SSL) with an 11-yard touchdown run and a 27-yard scoring pass to Jesse Olofson in the fourth quarter. But in the end, Taft had just enough points to edge out the Indians.
Dalmas finished the afternoon with eight completions for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Leading Tehachapi in the receiving category were Matt Santos with three catches for 43 yards, Robert Sigmund two catches for 45 yards, and Jesse Olofson with two catches for 39 yards. Olofson also had nine carries for 35 yards.
On defense, Andrew Howell had nine tackles and a fumble recovery to lead all Indians, while Nick Howell, John Cramer, Luke Papac, and Tyler Hagen all finished with four tackles apiece. Jordan Beardsley recorded a fumble recovery on a muffed punt, while Corey Russell, Hagen, and Luke Mears all recorded sacks.
