INDIANS TAKE DOWN ARVIN WITH SECOND HALF RUN, 28-13
TEHACHAPI NEWS - John Cramer rushed for 92 yards on seven attempts, scoring twice, to help lead the Indians (3-4; 1-1 SSL) to their third win of the year in a 28-13 win over Arvin
With the score sitting in Arvin’s favor at halftime, Cramer found the endzone on an 11-yard run and Ryan Dalmas connected with Robert Sigmund on a 27-yard pass completion for a score to help Tehachapi take a third quarter lead.
Cramer then struck again in the fourth quarter on a 27-yard jaunt for a touchdown, and Matt Santos put the icing on the cake with a fumble recovery for a touchdown on a Robert Sigmund sack.
“Having a couple of off-tackle plays work was a great thing and we had some success with that,” said head coach Chris Olofson. “We had three fumbles in the first half, including one on their 10-yard line so it was good to bounce back and have a solid second half.”
Daniel Baquerizo connected on two extra point attempts, and Dalmas found Zach Maravigli on a two-point pass to account for the other Tehachapi point totals. Dalmas finished the game 3-8 for 59 yards and a touchdown, while Robert Sigmund had two catches for 57 yards.
The Tehachapi win sets up an SSL title implication showdown with Shafter this week, who defeated Taft 19-14 last Thursday. A win by the Indians could pit Shafter and Tehachapi on top of the league standings at 2-1.
“We control our own destiny so we’re happy about that,” added Olofson. “This is our championship week.”
