Daria and Quinn get busted for being out too late, Helen nearly has a conniption, and she makes up a new curfew and several other rules. About a day later, Quinn breaks curfew, and she and Daria have to defend themselves in "family court," Helen's latest family togetherness scheme. Jake's supposed to be the judge, but is far more interested in watching the Pigskin Channel, while Helen portrays the over-zealous prosecutor. The court inevitabley finds the defendents guilty and grounds them for a month.
Daria does what she normally does, minus going to Jane's house, and plus playing family board games and the harmonica, but Quinn nearly goes insane from lack of contact with popular people, and spends most of her time pacing around the house.
Rumors about the Morgendorffers torturing their children start flying, and a concerned Jodie, accompanied by Jane, is taken to see if Daria is still alive. So Daria tells them how much being grounded sucks, and they form a plan - for Daria to break out of the house and go to a school roller-something (hockey, derby - I forget) game.
After dicovering Daria's absence, Helen gets pretty mad at her. However, being a lawyer, she negotiates the terms with her daughter and lets her out on "parole".
