Daria and Jane are at one of Mystik Sprial's gigs at a grunge club, and when Daria goes to the restroom before going to a burger place with Jane and the band, she discovers a couple of surprises. First of all, there's Brittany, who after having a fight with Kevin, has dyed her hair black, donned a short black dress, and come to the grunge club with some guy she met. Even worse is an ugly red rash covering Daria's face with alarming speed! She tells Brittany to warn Jane, sneaks out the emergency exit ("Emergency. Yes. That is correct."), hails a cab, and goes home.

The next day, the mysterious rash has dissapeared, but Jake has begun to suspect that Daria's usual sulleness is the result of drugs, and confronts her about it. Daria gives him some advice about being more discreet in this department, but Jake is not dissuaded, and grows even more paranoid by the minute. Daria goes to school, but in the middle of Mr. O'Neill's class, she discovers that the rash is back, and has to get Jake to take her to the hospital.

Daria asks Jane to not let anyone know about her ailment, but word gets out anyway, and pretty soon everyone, even Brittany and Kevin, show up to see her.

The doctor finally figures out that the rash was caused by stress and anxiety (Trent, of course, comes to mind. He was there almost every time it showed up) and Daria is soon well enough to go home again. However, when Jane and Trent show up to see her, the rash returns.
