Jake of Hearts

Jake has a heart attack at the dinner table, falls face-first into the guacamole, and gets shipped off to the hospital. Quinn actually seems concerned about him, informs everyone that she’s going to become a heart surgeon, and starts practicing by playing Operation. Daria, however, continues her usual sarcastic comments.

When Jake gets out of the hospital, his mom, Ruth, comes to take care of him. From the moment she walked in the door and made that comment to Daria, I hated her. When she constantly badgered Helen about cooking, housekeeping, and decorating, my contempt just grew. However, there was an interesting scene where Jake and Ruth discussed “Mad Dog” Morgendorffer, but mostly the plot got real old, real fast. It only passed because of its great start with the guacamole scene (how compassionate Robin is, eh?).
