The Cracks in the Pavement Tour experience

My OLP Concert Experience

Date: Jan, 26th 1998 7:30pm to 11:30pm

Where: GM Place, Vancouver

What: The last stop on their 14 day Canadian Tour

Who: Me and 2 of my friends

Opening Band: Everclear

Rating [Everclear]: ****

Rating [O.L.P.]: ***** (out of 5) !My Opinion!

My Experience:

I arrived at GM place at around 6:30pm, We went in and we met some friends of ours, we then talked and walked around until the start of the concert. A local band opened the show, playing for around 30 minutes. There was then a break for 15 minutes while Everclear setup. Everclear put on a good show for 45 minutes, revving up the crowd for OLP. Another break, for 30 minutes this time, while the crew was setting up for OLP, a Twilight Zone episode played, called "The Dummy". Finally OLP came on, opening with Automatic Flowers. Raine explained where their name came from, and we listened to 2 more songs, then he told us a story about what Trapeze is all about. They had cool movies in between many of songs, that were all directed by them. They ended with Clumsy, from the CD Clumsy. Around 10 (? more ?) were played by OLP. The ticket was worth the money that I payed for it.

My more Personal Experience:

(This happens during the time that Everclear was on stage) Well, there was a lot of smoking* happening at this concert. This made the boys behind us rather "silly" Well, they had smuggled beer into the building. (I dont know how the frisker people didn't find it...!)anyways, while being "silly" they decided to push eachother around quite a bit. I didn't mind until they, well, spilt beer on me and one of my friends. That was kind of gross... so the one who spilt the beer, decided to take charge and kept wiping off our hair with his jacket(?). The funny thing was, one minute his arms are flailing all about while he danced, the next minute, he was passed out slumped over in his chair.;-) Now on to the boys (actually, they were men of around 35 years) were also smoking Mariguana (so gross) and they just had to blow the smoke up to us! I went home that night, and my Mom almost got mad at me for smelling like I did. "My name" what the hell have you been doing, thats the last time you go to a concert without an adult....AAARGGGHH... Blah, Blah, Blah", until finally I explained what happend. Anyways if you think my little stories are boring... thats to bad ^_^ 'Cause its to late you have already read it! ^_^

Hope you enjoyed it!
* and I don't mean ciggarettes (Mariguana in other words)
