I am lying here at 3:35 AM writing this review all because of Draca. It is entirely her fault. I got bored one afternoon, read Please Don’t Let the Fire Die, and got hooked on this dadgum show that comes on at 2:30 in the morning. That was about three weeks go. Ever since, I’ve been watching Toon Disney from 1:00 to 3:00, developing a monster case of insomnia, and waking up at 1:00 PM to read a Discworld book (which is also her doing) until 2:30 or so. I’d like to take this opportunity to THANK Miss Darkwingette for keeping me occupied this summer!
There. Now that that DeMartino-esque tirade is out of my system, I’d just like to say that DUCKS ROCK!
Oh, my goodness. I never, EVER would have thought two months ago that it was possible for me to even appreciate this show, much less fall madly in love with it. I mean, think about the premise for just a moment, will you? Six hockey-playing alien ducks run around Anaheim battling a group of…dinosaur –ish megalomaniacs. Excuse me?!
But I was convinced that if Draca loved it so much, it must have some redeeming value. So I checked it out. It really surprised me. The writing was excellent, the characters were quite likable, indeed, and, despite what the commercials on ToonDisney indicated, the humor really is very…humorous.
So, basically what I’m saying is that it is certainly worth a look. And if you happen to see “Monster Rally” or “Buzz Blitsman- Mighty Duck!” first, give it another look.
Mighty Ducks: TAS comes on ToonDisney every night at 11:00 PM (EST), Tuesday through Saturday at 2:30 AM, and Sunday and Monday at 2:00 AM.
