Full Name: Steelbeak
Initially, I didn’t really care for this highly egotistical rooster, but he has sort of grown on me.
He seems to always be in the worst episodes. They tended to give him the episodes where the main plot didn’t involve a villain, but they needed someone to be thwarted. The Comet Guy episodes, “Tiff of the Titans”, and “The Darkwing Squad” are prime examples. But he somehow manages to almost salvage the episodes he’s in.
He’s got a great sense of humor, and is pretty smart. His plans may backfire in the end, but they usually sound good. And he knew exactly how to deal with Ammonia Pine. I wouldn’t have ever had enough patience to be around her for more than a few seconds.
But I always wondered what happened to him after “Steermonator”. Did Taurus Bulba really “deal with him” after leaving DW, or did he forget in all the excitement? I’m not sure of the order of the episodes, so he may have appeared unharmed in the next one, but I still wonder.
Rob Paulsen did a great job with his voice. It is pretty annoying, and his laugh is horribly so, but considering Mr. Paulsen’s other work, it is amazing. And when he’s not screaming, which isn’t often, it is almost tolerable.
Steely is almost always shown wearing a white smoking jacket, black pants, and black and white saddle shoes.
