Probably the evilest (most evil?) voice in the business, Tony Jay is a favorite among voice chasers.
Mr. Jay’s roles have ranged from the benevolent, slightly dorky Dr. Lipschitz of Rugrats, to Judge Claude Frollo, the corrupt, lustful antagonist of Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame. But my favorite of his roles is the Grim Reaper from one of the best episodes of Darkwing Duck, entitled “Dead Duck”. He has also been Shere Kahn of TaleSpin, Reginald on All Dogs Go to Heaven 2, the narrator on Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Monsieur D'Arque of Beauty and the Beast, Extreme Ghostbusters's Macrobe, Anubis on Gargoyles, Wraith of Mighty Ducks, ReBoot's Megabyte, Professor on Recess, The Chief of Super Secret Squirrel, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles's Lord Dregg
I adore the rich, deep tone of his voice, and that accent is marvelous. And I believe you know how I feel about evil voices...
Angela introduced me to Mr. Jay (yet another reason to thank her!), and I have since taken quite an interest in his work.
Mr. Jay was nominated for the Annie for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Voice Acting, November 1996 for his performance as Frollo. His official website is http.www.poetsonbroadway.com
