This is definitely the least benign of all of my shows.
I have been watching this show since before I can remember. The only show I’ve watched longer is “Married…With Children” (great shows for a 5 year old to be watching, eh?).
The show centers around the Simpson family. There’s Marge (Julie Kavner), the mother, who can be a tad overprotective and nauseatingly ditzy, Homer (Dan Castellaneta), the father, who is REALLY stupid and works at the nuclear plant, Bart (Nancy Cartwright), the smart alec, Lisa (Yeardly Smith), the intelligent and mildly cynical “neglected middle child”, Maggie, the baby, Santa’s Little Helper, their dog that seems to disappear from time to time, and their cat what’s-its- name.
Even though it is a tad, uh, vulgar at times, it is hilarious. Bart is quite the little clown, Lisa’s Daria-esque observations are great, and you can’t help but laugh at Homer’s retardedness. But possibly the best thing about the Simpsons is the cast. Dan Castellaneta, Hank Azaria, Tress MacNeille, Yeardly Smith, Nancy Cartwright, Harry Shearer, and Julie Kavner are only some of the all-stars. And most of them have numerous parts. They recently lost Maggie Roswell because they failed to give her a raise (even though the rest of the cast got one), which let to the death of her major recurring character, Maude Flanders.
The Simpsons was created by Matt Groening. It is in its 11th season and airs on Fox. Check your local listings for times. I sound like a movie add.
