Part 1 By Dian
Dian looked at AresAngel the two had been planning on this for about a week. Dian grabbed Morning Star's saddle. "I still don't see why you can't train me here," AresAngel started in.
"Well for starters if anyone even suspected what we plan to do. Then they would know its us when we do it and also for me to get you ready to do it in time I will need help teaching you," Dian explained to AresAngel.
"Okay I have one more question," AresAngel said to Dian as she prepared her phoenix for the flight ahead.
"And what's that?" Dian asked turning to face AresAngel.
"How do you know this guy is going to teach me?"
"He'll do anything for me. Angel I just wish that you weren't bringing him," Dian told her.
"Why?"
"Well you see he doesn't truly believe in unicorns or anything magical," Dian explained.
"Then why are you taking her," Angel motioned towards Morning Star.
"You see when I first got her he never saw her horn because he didn't believe in her. So he believed that she was just another horse," she told Angel.
"Well then we'll make him believe," Angel said with a devilish glint in her eyes.
"Okay. Why not," Dian said as the glint appeared in her eyes. It would be fun to teach Andy a lesson. He had taught her many.
"So how far away is his place?" Angel asked as Dian climbed into the saddle.
"A days ride at the most for us, but for anyone else on horse it would be a day and a half for them." With that they set out. With Angel following Dian over head on her phoenix and Dian on Morning Star.
Dian had insisted that they stop for something to eat and drink. When Angel had protested Dian said that Andy wouldn't be back to his house till nightfall anyway. When it came time for them to pay for the meal Dian simply told Angel to wait there and she would be right back in. truly Angel knew Dian had money but had left it at the temple by mistake. So Angel was stunned when Dian came back in with a pouch full of gold. "Where did you get that from?" Angel whispered to Dian.
"From some really fat dude around the corner. He won't mind he had three more," she informed Angel as she paid the owner then headed back outside. They walked down into the ally way before their animals (who are also their friends) meant them. Dian called Morning Star to her from behind a stack of wooden boxes. Star was followed out by Angel’s phoenix. Dian climbed into Star’s saddle as Angel climbed onto her phoenix. Dian waited as Angel took to the air. They were out of town with in 5 minutes. Dian remembered every turn in the town but they would have been very confusing to Angel, if she had been on horse back with Dian. Dian rode along Blue spring until she reached a fork in the road. Which was at the bottom of a hill. Which she chose the left path, which continued on along the bottom of the hill, while the right path went straight up the hill. Angel saw the hut before Dian did, but Dian knew she was close even though it had been almost a year since she had been there she was not quite 16 yet but she was close.
They reached Andy’s hut well before sundown. Dian just pushed open the door and went inside. Angel was more of a polite person and said she would wait outside, but Dian wasn’t to keen about that so she pulled Angel into the hut and set her down on a chair. Then Dian set to work on looking everything over. Dian had a few hours before Andy would get back. Especially since she had seen a dozen of the kind of guys she had ripped off out on the streets tonight. Andy would probably come back with armloads of food knowing him. Dian started a fire since she didn’t want to have to do it when it got dark.
It was well after nightfall when Andy did get home. He spotted the light coming from the windows of the hut as he rounded the bend on the path. Andy drew his sword as he opened the door to his house. “Who’s here?” he demanded. He looked around his house to see if he could see anyone and to his surprise his house was clean. “WHO IS HERE?” He demanded again.
“It’s been to long,” Dian said from the shadows of the door way to his room, from where she was standing.
Andy jumped at the sound of her voice. “Who are you,” he asked in the general direction of where her voice had come from.
“Why Andy I’m shocked. You don’t remember me?” She asked as she stepped out of the shadows.
“Dian is that you?” He asked coming closer.
“No it’s Aphrodity,” she replied humorously. With that she stepped closer to him then wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a hug. With their bodies so close she could feel the sack of gold tied around his waist. She quickly slipped her hand down and unfastened it as she moved away from him. To her luck at the moment Angel had woken from her little nap on his bed.
Andy raised his sword at the sound of her footsteps and without hesitation he swung at her as she entered. With luck Dian had drawn her sword and was in time to block his swing or they would have had two AresAngels. Which didn’t appeal to Dian. “Who is she?” he demanded as he slethed his sword.
“Andy this is AresAngel. Angel this is Andy,” Dian introduced them to each other.
“That doesn’t explain who she is D.”
“She is a friend of mine Andy that I meant at Ares’s temple?” Dian quickly explained.
“Ares’s temple?” Andy asked. Angel could tell from the confused look on his face Dian hadn’t told him that she had join Ares’s temple as one of his priestesses.
“Well you see after I left I went and helped some one and went back with a group of people that I had become friends with and I joined the temple of Ares as one of his priestesses, but that’s not why I’m here,” Dian explained.
“Then why are you here?”
“I need your help to train her to become a thief.”
“Has she had any experience in it?” He asked looking from Dian to Angel.
“Well no,” Dian admitted, “but I know we can teach her and I only have a 5 days to teach her in.”
“Five days!!! And she has no experience at it. Dian not even the king of thieves could teach her in that amount of time.”
“But you’re his son and has had more time at it then he has and I know you can teach her,” Dian pleaded.
“You’re Autolocas’s son?” Angel asked in disbelief.
“Yeah so what,” was all he replied to this.
“Please Andy.”
“Fine we can see what we can do, but if she gets caught stealing something in the marketplace I’m not taking the wrap D. or even saving her butt.” Angel was annoyed by this statement but kept her mouth shut. Dian was glad she had kept her mouth shut for the one reason was Andy would have emditly changed his mind if she had said anything and Dian knew it.
“We start in the morning. Just after sunrise. D. Where is she going to sleep?” Andy said.
“She can have my bed,” Dian said, “that is if it is still there.”
“It is. So where will you sleep?” he asked.
“Oh can’t I sleep in your bed,” she kidded.
“Sure you can,” he told her and she knew he wasn’t kidding.
“Oh so I get your big bed all by myself?” Dian asked making sure.
“If you wish. Then again if you want me to stay I will,” he replied. This time Dian knew he was joking, but Angel wasn’t to sure. “Why only 5 days?” he asked.
“That’s all Ares would allow us gone for,” Angel replied.
“Well have you eaten?”
“Yes,” Dian replied.
“Not since noon though,” Angel said.
“Then you must eat,” Andy said. He knew Dian usually only ate one meal a day but he had always been trying to change that. Dian started to open her mouth when he stuffed a grape in it. Eat was his only words he spoke to her till she finished eating at least a plate full of the food. By the end of the meal Angel was exosted and so was Dian. Dian helped Angel into her room before. Dian headed into Andy’s room. He had passed out on the front floor. Dian draped a blanket over him then headed to bed.
Dian kicked the furs off and headed out of Andy’s room to the main room. She looked at the orray of food on the table and was ready to barf. “Andy how can you eat so much food?” Dian asked him.
“Well seeing the fact that you and Angel are going to help me I won’t be,” he explained. At the sound of her name Angel entered the room.
“Oh good breakfast,” Angel said at the sight of the food.
“Yeah get your fill we won’t be stopping for lunch today,” Dian said as she took her seat.
“And why not?” Andy asked Dian.
“Because it would be a waste of the time we have to get her ready.”
“No you just want to avoid eating,” Andy remarked.
“That too,” Dian replied smiling.
“Yeah but Dian is right it would take up the time you have to train me,” Angel announced.
“Well maybe. We’ll see.”
After eating breakfast the two thieves and the soon to be thief headed into the marketplace. Dian headed up an ally to the north with Andy and Angel at her side. “Are sure he will still even be here?” Dian asked Andy.
“Yes, Jonas is here or at least I think so,” Andy replied.
“Who is Jonas?” Angel asked.
“Jonas is a training kid. In other words he gets paid to help train people like you. People who want to become thieves,” Andy and Dian explained in erosion.
“Did you two rehears that?” Angel asked.
“No,” Dian answered. Dian stopped as she reached a wall that was lined with doors. Dian knocked on the third door to the right. The door was opened to reveal a boy who was about 16 or 17 with sandy brown hair and green eyes. He was shorter then Dian by about half a foot. “Jonas,” Dian said.
“I heard you left town,” Jonas remarked, “sure ain’t been the same around here with out you. Have you been around town yet?”
“No not yet. Why?”
“Well there are guards that patrol the marketplace and there are a whole lot of thieves leaving town before they get caught. Also have you seen the purses on the people out there?”
“You mean purses like this?” Dian asked as she held up the bag full of gold.
“Oh yeah where did you get that much? You are still in the business right?” He asked.
“Yeah I got it over at the tavern. And yes I still partake in a little thievery here and there, but that’s not why I’m here. I need you to help me and Andy teach AresAngel here how to steal,” Dian explained, “and of course there will be a good pay in it for you.”
“How much?” he asked.
“All of this,” Dian replied handing him the bag.
“Okay, lets get started. Come in,” he said as he held the door open for them.
After about an hour of training in purse snatching they moved on to sword theft. By noon Angel was ready for a test. Dian chose the victim for the purse snatching. She was a rude, snobby, arrogant, rich woman, who was just the perfect pick for an ammeter like Angel. “Okay lets see what you got,” Andy said, “and remember be clever when taking it.”
“I’ll try not to make her realize that I’m taking it if that’s what you mean,” Angel replied as she headed out into the crowd. Angel passed the women then returned to her. Then Angel slipped her dagger from her hiding place and quickly gentle cut the straps to the lady’s purse.
Dian watched as Angel continued to steal the women’s purse. Angel took a little longer then Andy or her self would have but she did get the purse. To Dian’s amazement she took a detour back around to them.
“Well how did I do?” Angel asked.
“Fine, but next time avoid passing her the second time take the purse the first time,” Andy told her as he turned and headed back down the road they had come up.
“Why?”
“Because you give them to much of a chance to see you,” Dian explained, “and if they are able to recognize you then you are in trouble.”
“O’ okay. So do I get to steal a sword now?” Angel asked.
“Yes, but not today tomorrow,” Andy told her.
“Why not?”
“It’s time for me to make my living. He D. how about a game of Treasure hunt?” He asked.
“Treasure hunt?” Angel was confused.
“Okay Angel, you’re with me and Andy most wins.”
“No fair you have some one helping you,” Andy complained.
“Hmm then maybe after I explain it to her we see if she can compete with us,” Dian said.
“Okay, why not. You up to it Angel?” he asked.
“Sure why not how do you play?”
“Easy, you snatch as much money as you can by nightfall. When nightfals you return back to Andy’s house. Then you see who has the most,” he explained.
“And who ever has the most gets to pick what they want to do,” Dian finished.
“Okay I’m game. When do we start?”
“Right now,” the other two said in ursine and then sprinted off. Angel looked the way Dian went and saw nothing so she headed that way. “Maybe if I can find a good spot I can bet them but I doubt it,” she thought to her self.
Dian looked around the city. She saw the rock tavern and headed into it. It had been her favorite place when she had lived with Andy. “Okay lets see who is next,” said a male voice from behind the counter. Even though Dian hadn’t seen him for a year she recognized the voice. It belonged to the owner of the rock Damien. His father had owned the tavern until 2 years ago when he passed away and ever since Damien had taken over for him. He was a young man of 20. He had reddish brown hair that came to just above his shoulders. He had the most beautiful eyes Dian had ever seen. They were deep green with a sprinkle of light blue that flashed in them when the sun hit them just right. Dian and Damien had sortta been more then friends for a while but with time that passed with nothing more then a few kisses shared. Dian liked to tease him anyway. So she walked behind the counter and tapped him on the shoulder. He spun around so quickly he nearly knocked her to he floor.
“Thanks,” she said as she got to her feet.
“Dian?” His green eyes were so wide at this point that even with out the sun’s light you could see the blue.
“No, I’m Aphrodity. Of course it’s me,” she said as she stood to face him. He caught the smile that had formed on her face. “Well are you plannen on given me a hug or just standing there with your mouth open.”
“You’re not here plan treasure hunt with Andy are you?” he asked knowing she had even taken some of his money once but had returned it after winning.
“Yeah I am playing the game with Andy, but I’m not here to steal anything just to get a drink,” she said, “so I’ll take a mug of ale.”
“Coming up,” he said after giving her a hug. When he was giving her the hug he picked her up and set her back down on the other side of the bar, “that’s where you belong sweets.” With in a minute Dian was sipping on a mug of ale.
“If you’re competing with Andy why are you sitting here?”
“Cause I wanted a drink and I thought I should say hi it’s been a while since I last saw you. And I missed your gorges green eyes.” Damien burst out laughing at that Dian always had a way with words, but it hardly ever made her seem serious to most people. Dian flipped two dinars on the table from out of basically thin air then finished off her drink and was out the door with in seconds. “See you another time Damien I have a game to win.”
Dian pulled out the purse of dinars she had accomplished to steal from the man who had passed her in the tavern. Dian headed for the market then remember that Andy would be that way so she switched her direction and headed for the square. A year ago she had stolen a real unicorn (Morning Star) from there. With in seconds Dian came to the square to her surprise the same circus she had stolen Star from was in town. She circled the crowd. Most of the people there were to busy with their children to notice her. One at a time she collected the purses full of money. She had just finished her 10th bag when a boy of about 10 bumped into her. He wore a torn red shirt with torn up leather pants. He wore no boots on his feet and trailing behind him was another boy about 7. Dian knew what it was like to be these children. So she moved out of the kids way. The older one was bending down to help the younger one off of the ground. When Dian quickly tied a bag of gold to his belt then disappeared into the crowd. This used to be normal for Dian when she lived here.
