Prairie Dawn

See! The light of God is dawning—
In the eastern sky, silver shining...
On the distant mountain
Golden glory heralds this new day!

In my garden green plants flourish,
Then produce lush flowers & food to eat...
Trees bend with their loads of fruit
Which ripen so deliciously...

Birds are singing joyously,
While seeking food for their tender babies;
Never questioning their creator
Why their life seems so hard...

They keep flying, keep on trying
To fulfill what God commands!
Birds are cheerful as they twitter,
Singing as they wend their way...

Now, the hours stretch out before me—
Pristine, white, untouched by a single line;
There lies opportunity
To fashion, mold what I design.

Praying I will learn to persevere,
Enlarging God’s gifts here.

In the distance shines the promise
Of a glory I only can surmise...
Tracks which lead up to the summit
Ultimately must be mine!

Holding closely to what’s true
I press on even when I must pass through
Places where the path dips
Requiring me to walk on sharp thorns...

In the distance lies God’s glory
Shining with His love divine!

Evening shadows lengthen into night

And rest in peace promised
