Just look at what they've cost!
Dreams and goals you used to have,
Which by now most seem lost.

You look back sadly at your unsavory past,
At the events which caused deep scars.
But you won't even try to change things now,
Because you believe, "This is just the way things are,".

You feel like you are losing control
When life takes you for a spin.
With all the pain and shame that you've endured
You feel you must give in.

But don't let pain cloud your judgement,
And don't let self-hate drag you down.
Down deep, six feet under,
In the cold unfeeling ground.

You've got to take control
