This rather anticlimactic first day with the Mann is due to the fact that Wag arrived just as Livi was finishing work of her architectural masterpiece, a new PVC pipe frame for the screen tent. Livi finds it amusing that having never taken any kind of engineering class whatsoever, she can design, plan and construct a stronger, easier-to-set-up and less expensive frame than the designers ostensibly hired and paid to create the original. However, she doesn't believe they really hire designers, she thinks it has something to do with the whole Shakespeare/Monkey/Typewriter problem.

Wagner agreed to act as consultant for the project, feeling himself greatly qualified for the position. He felt that since he had just visited most of the major engineering marvels of the Middle East, helping with the major engineering marvel of Kaysville wouldn't be much of a stretch. And he was a great help, in a standing-around-making-critical-comments sort of way.
