Whoa...this is awesome. Although the first tape starts a little slow..but that's ok. The art in Escaflowne is spectacular, backgrounds are amazing, along with the mecha and all other. They could use a little less pinochio noses, though. I've seen 14 eps, but Jasuka has only seen 8, maybe that's why she only gave it a 8. This is obviously one of the best anime of all time. Spectacular music too. I love the background music, heh, not to mention the scene, when Van goes psycho in his Escaflowne, and well, gives Zaibach armies a little payback. I want the CD sooo badly. And the rest of the tapes as well x.x hehe..and the movie and manga.

Hitomi Kanzaki is a 15 year old girl who likes fortune telling. Well, on one day, when she's about to confess to Amano-sempai her crush..Van Fannel comes in to battle a dragon and when he's down and goes back to Gaea, he takes Hitomi as well. And in Gaea...Hitomi's fortune telling is a little MORE than accurate..visions haunt her of what is to come and what is to happen, not to mention the teasing Meruru gives her about it. Escaflowne has very memorable characters. Van Fanel is the Prince of Fanelia, very headstrong, and, stubborn. And then his brother, Folken Fannel, is part of the Zaibach forces, ooo he's evil, heh, nice twist... Meruru is the young catgirl (yes every anime does have a catgirl, lol) who is in love with Van, and is very jealous of Hitomi, and so on. The mecha battles are awesome in this, and so is the mecha. With everything said, go out and buy this anime, it's very very good, and it's definatly not a waste of money. This is my fave anime, altho I have alot of others too, this is my all time fave.

Escaflowne is available through Anime Villiage. The Movie is due in theatres in Japan in 2000.

like utena, we might add a character and ep guide here too..and art galleries. So come back soon!
